PUBLIC SAFETY CENTER
Project Update Information

The City Council adopted the Public Safety Center Plans and Specifications developed by KMA Architecture and Engineering on October 21, 2008.  The bidding process was open to ten pre-qualified contractors and eight bids were received ranging from $40 - $42.9 million.  On March 10, 2009, the City Council awarded the project to Ledcor Construction, Inc. for $40 million.  The groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 23, 2009 and construction is anticipated to take approximately two-years before the center is move-in ready.

When the Public Safety Center project is complete in 2011, it will create a community treasure for decades to come.  The building will be 119,400 square feet with 212,750 square feet of parking garage, which will be located on 5.7 acres at 100 Civic Center Way adjacent to City Hall.  The facility will be a five-story structure with parking integrated on three levels.  This state-of-the-art facility will have administrative and operational space for all divisions, a joint police and fire emergency operations center, community meeting room, modern communications center, indoor firing range, crime laboratory, property processing and storage area, short-term custody facility, and a central data center.  For the first time in many years, all police functions will be housed in one location, facilitating enhanced public service for our community.
